Went to B Spot for my birthday last night. The decor is nice, the service is great and the food is wonderful. We were a party of 4, and we had enjoyable time. I only give the place 4 stars, because the only downside to the evening was even with the garage door open, the restaurant was just too cold. The Root Beer floats are huge.. Almost a meal in itself

I'd like to give a 2 1/2 cause it's not 2 but it's also not 3.. Decor was cool.. But bathrooms were not.. Pickle bar was a neat idea.. Service was good.. But the main thing which is food was not.. Burger was decently tasty but we only got a plain cheese and it was 8.50.. 4 for fries that's 13 bucks for a plain burger and fries.. Rip off! Same with the beer. 6.50 for one glass! Yikes! And my brat was possibly the worst I've ever had smothered in soggy beer onions.. It was gross to me.. No need to ever be back..

Pluses: Cool atmosphere. Nice pickle bar. Good beers. Friendly staff. Negatives: Everyone's burgers were overcooked. Waitress didn't offer to add fries or sides. Pretty bad set up with bathrooms behind where they run food. Overall: First week so give them some time, burgers don't blow you away, but nice spot. Probably better as a lunch spot.

Really good burgers. I've had three different burgers here and they were all terrific. Two of them were messy, but that's the price you pay for great food. The pulled pork burger is an A+. Their burger of the month in February was basically a Philly cheesesteak on top of a burger. It was maybe the best burger I've ever had. The sides are good as well. Their coffee BBQ sauce is incredible. I would like to steal a bottle to use at home. I've only been for lunch so I can't vouch for the nighttime/weekend atmosphere, but it's always clean, fast, and friendly.

Nothing specifically bad, but I can't get myself to love this place...burgers are good but not great, and everything feels like an add on, tends to get pricier.

The interior is definitely not as interesting as the hype led it to be - small bar and for a beer and whiskey spot it definitely doesn't have the feel of a place like Ale Mary's next door where you feel like you're having a really enjoyable experience. Burgers are good, not great. If you want a great burger - you still would rather go to Red Coat. Service was excellent but overall this has more of a chain/family feel than an edgy Michael Symon experience. It succeeds in being a safe bet. Good food, good service, nothing exeptional

The place has a nice industrial funky feel to it. Staff was nice, I came on a slow day so I was able to sit right away. I built my own burger and all I can say is that it was ok. The burger was on the dry side, and the bun was not equipped to handle the burger, mine fell apart. The sauces were ok, I tried them all, but none blew me away. The fries were a big disappointment, you can not use just Rosemary on a shoestring fry. In my opinion this place is way overpriced for the offering. I don't think I'll be back.

I'm saddened that this place wasn't better. There are better burger places in the area, and I would suggest them over the B Spot. My wife and I are big fan's of Michael Simon's restaurant, Roast, and thought it would be fun to try his latest metro-Detroit installment. The menu is a la cart; limited to burgers, fries, salads, and dessert, with a "pickle bar" for additional toppings. We each had a burger, shared an order of fries, and raided the pickle bar. The burgers: very bland; not much seasoning. The fires: okay The pickle bar: nearly ate our weight in kimchi & Tony Packo's Sweet Hot pickles (what a win!) The burgers are okay. They lacked flavor and relied heavily on the pickle bar to save them. For over $20, we could have gone to another burger joint and had a better meal. I might try this one last time, but I'm hesitant.

I'll start by saying this is my first ever review on Yelp (or anywhere else for that matter), and I'm sad to say it's not going to be very positive... Beyond the service - which happened to be better than average - and perhaps the 'vibe' Symon's team put together via interior décor elements, this restaurant has absolutely nothing going for it in the food department. As a reminder, a restaurant with poor service can potentially survive if the food is revolutionary, but a restaurant that serves bad food will always fail, it's just a matter of time. In a joint that's espousing the best burgers EVER (intentionally overstated for effect), I'd expect at least an admirable attempt at producing something good enough to come back for. Instead I received a burger so wet with ingredients that the brioche bun the burger lay upon had already disintegrated by the time the whole slab of heart-attack reached my table. In fact, the buns associated with each burger ordered at the table (totaling four) had all died before being able to successfully meet their highest and best use - consumed by fatty (aka. me). This oversight - serving burgers in buns that aren't up for the challenge - is inexcusable given this establishment's self attested burger dominance. Had the restaurant's amateurish mistake (using weak buns while serving heavy-lift burgers) been the only foible I experienced, I'd have forgone this review entirely, but then I was forced to reconcile what I'd just paid ($10.99 per) for these unintentionally bun-less burgers.....burgers that didn't even come with fries. Yes, you read that right. The fries were an additional $3.99 per order?! Buyer, think of how hard you've worked for the dollars you're going to spend on the meal you're about to Rajput, and choose a more rational option. Literally, any other option Royal Oak has to offer and thank me later! -The Ravenous Pig

We stopped in on a Monday evening and had a wonderful experience. We ordered the Lola burger, Fun burger, onion rings, and a couple of beers. Our server was friendly and attentive, our burgers were cooked to perfection, the onion rings were crispy, the beer selection was great, and the the pickle bar is a fun, tasty bonus. I've gotta get back to try a milkshake - I spied a couple and they looked really good. We sat in a booth in the back so I had a good view of the kitchen, bar, and main seating area. All of the employees were busy yet friendly and attentive. The only odd thing worth pointing out is having to walk through a narrow space in the kitchen serving area to get through a restroom. My advice - ignore the bad reviews from the first couple of weeks they were open and give the B Spot a whirl next time you are looking for a good burger.

Enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and the beer and cocktail selection was excellent. Our server was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately I was quite underwhelmed with my food. I guess I just expected more from a Michael Symon joint. While the sauces were all quite good, the burger was too small for the bun which was greasy on outside and stale/dry on the inside. Also the onion rings were just okay. My girlfriend had the grilled cheese which was pretty good so we'll probably give it another chance. But if I'm looking for a great burger I'm afraid I'll need to look elsewhere.

Today was my first time eating at the Royal Oak location. I ordered the porky. I don't know if they forgot to add the BBQ sauce of just didn't use enough because I couldn't taste it. With that being said the food was still great! I love their fries and I love the shasa sauce and the Lola ketchup. The only thing that bothered me was the waitress didn't explain the sauces or she did not tell us about the smasher special. I have ate at the location in Rochester before and I can tell you that the quality is the same.

I think this place is great. The fries are awesome, Rosemary and salt, a welcomed change from other establishments leaving you to drown your potatoes in condiments. If you really like fries go for the porky fries with the whiz, pulled pork and peppers, the best. The burgers are a fun adventure with many different options to chose from beyond your standard burger toppings!

This place is okay. It definitely isn't anything special at all. Today was the second time I've been here, and I can honestly say if I don't ever go back I won't miss it. I agree with other reviews the burgers are small. Another annoying thing is the fries are nerve hot. The first time I went I had to send them back and ask for hot fries, today I didn't even bother. My server today definitely left a lot to be desired: they didn't offer me the drink for my kids meal nor ask me if I wanted the cupcake that came with it. I asked for pickles on our burgers and was told that I would have to go to the pickle bar. It seems that people really like that but being by myself with a child in highchair, I don't want to have to get up to get pickles. Overall, this place is just okay. Meh

finally got over to B-Spot and I was pleased with my experience. Having gone to other celebrity chef burger joints, I was struck by how small the place was. That being said, I liked the less frills atmosphere. Moreover, the burgers are solid. I have had better, but because of the location, it is definitely worth trying if you are in the area. Also, I am usually no t a fan of shoestring fries, but the Lola fries with rosemary are quite tasty. Finally, any place that serve pork cracklin's is doing God's work in my eyes. In short, a solid addition to an otherwise chain infested town. No offense to all you Royal Oak peeps. I live in Troy which is even worse than your time.

A great burger place! We ordered two Thin Lizzy's and a Porky burger. They were delicious! The Porky was a nice even balance of beef and pork and the grilled onions on the Lizzy was great. I appreciated the cheddar they melt on their burgers and the brioche-like buns. The Lola fries were great and I kept dipping them in the Lola ketchup and the Shasha Sauce. If I could buy a bottle of that sauce and bring it back with me to California, I totally would. It's a sweet and spicy mustard sauce with yellow peppers that goes great with the burgers and fries. Did I also mention that they have a pickle bar? Not only does it have pickles but this month they have kimchi. Now is it super authentic kimchi? No, it was super sour, vinegar was probably the main thing I could taste but it was cool to see the different pickles they had. Overall, I really enjoyed the B Spot. The fries are cooked in lard and they are amazing. For hamburger and fries, it was surprisingly not super heavy. I hope to come back and try the boozy root beer floats.

Mehh... Turkey burger was a frozen patty. Bun was plain, and fries were soggy. Sauce basket looks like from a BBQ place but its just ketchup and mustard with variations and weird names. Won't come back.. And.. $23 for a burger with fries is too much.

Pretty solid experience. My first B Spot experience was at the one in Cleveland. I remember the menu having slightly different options there...maybe they've changed in the last couple years. I went with the Yo burger. It was very good, but overdone. Ordered medium, came out solidly well done. It happens. Wasn't totally dried out or anything, just would've liked it cooked a bit less. The fries were excellent and I swear they need to make a drink out of that Shasha sauce. I wanted to rip the lid off and drink it straight from the bottle. Needless to say, lots of the stuff found its way onto my burger and fries. Service was on point. Prices were reasonable. I wanted to give the Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon Shake another whirl, but with a night of drinking ahead, I opted against it. Probably for the best, but if you're looking for a solid shake...give that one a try. I'm not a vanilla fan. I'm not an apple pie fan. But I'm definitely a Vanilla Bean Apple Pie Bacon Shake fan. So...even if it doesn't sound like it's up your alley...you might be wrong.

This has been the best surprise! -Cool urban industrial interior -Juicy, delicious burgers -Lola fries were really good -could not pick which condiment I liked best LOLA KETCHUP, SHASHA?,or COFFEE BBQ. Are these sold somewhere? -love the pickle bar, Tony Packo sweet hot and picked green tomatoes favorite -friendly and engaging staff We can't wait to go back and sample milkshakes. DEFINITELY going to give the Betty Burger some competition. (Watch out One Eyed Betty. ...there is a new B in town! )

Bumming around Royal Oak for guys night and this place seemed as good as any to grab a bite. I really didn't expect B Spot to thrill me but the burgers are definitely worth the trip. I didn't get too crazy and only ordered a burger with bleu cheese and bacon but what I noticed first was the perfect buns they use to adorn their delights. I was impressed and hooked after the first bite of the soft pillowy briochesque bun with the shiny egg-washed top and a skewer holding the decadence all together. The burger was a little overdone but it was delicious and thick. The bacon was thick cut also and just south of crispy giving it a little bite and texture. The bleu cheese could've been more plentiful but it was certainly quality. The Lola fries with their rosemary sprinkle were fantastic...add to that the tableside house sauces and you've got winners all around. The Shasha sauce was the table favorite...sweet and spicy almost like a salsa verde and don't forget their Pub Mustard which was my favorite for the burger and the fries. Service was tip top and the bill wasn't too harsh for the quality or the atmosphere delivered at B spot. I'm already craving another burger and hope to make it back soon to try some of their more stacked burger adventures, not to mention their loaded dog options.

If you are looking for a good, cool, relaxed atmosphere and good burger, this is the place. I ordered just the plain Cheeseburger and was pleasantly surprised! The patty was well seasoned, cooked to my preference. Bun was perfect and overall taste was excellent. I enjoyed the fries with the rosemary. It was not too salty, just perfect. I also commend the staff. They were very professional and accommodating. Always making sure we were ok and we are enjoying our experience. My husband loved the dark ale beer. My friend ordered different cocktails and loved them all. I also loved their lime margarita--- perfectly blended. We are definitely going back for a good burger, fries and drink that's reasonably priced.

Awesome craft beer selection..I love Duchess! The food is delicious here! I got the Lola and the Beau got the Fat Doug with a side of fries. I wish the fries were thicker, but they were still good. Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the food!

Good, but not great. We went on a weekday night and didn't have to wait. I imagine there is a long wait on the weekends because the place is so small. I got the turkey burger and it was very bland. I had to put a lot of sauces on it to give it flavor. The bun was the best part. The bread is soft and it seems like it was baked locally. If you've ever had the buns from Red Knapp's Dairy Bar, it's similar. The beer selection is ok. They have a good selection, but not many on draft. They have a few shakes on the menu that are infused with alcohol that sounded good.

Great service! Onion rings had just the right crisp and came with sriracha mayo. (Yum) my burger was a bit over done but loved the pickle bar. Would seriously come back just for the onion rings though.

On the upside - large selection of choices and prices are not too bad. On the downside - food was so-so as was the atmosphere. My husband had a burger with roasted onions, peppers and cheese. I had the veggie burger with roasted peppers and cheese on the waitress suggestion. Both where good but not great. The buns where also an odd texture, almost too light - didn't offer much substance to the meat/veggie patty. We expected much more from a burger based restaurants. Atmosphere is odd as well - the bar area is really brightly lit and felt more like a lunch counter than a dinner place. But again, prices are reasonable so could be convinced to try it again.

I won't be back. It's too gross trying to eat a burger that falls apart halfway into eating it. The bun is too flaky and soaks up all your condiments and grease, and they brush butter on top of the bun before serving, so it's even messier when you try to eat it. No wonder there is a roll if paper towels at each table-you need them! Burgers are never cooked to order, brats are cold in the middle, and the walk to the bathroom is very awkward. Bad 70's and 80's music is played too loud. It's all the music you were sick of hearing back in the 70's and 80's! I can't believe Michael Symon puts his stamp on this concept. The only plus is the staff is excellent, and the beer selection is excellent. I will go to Red Coat Tavern, Town Tavern, Lockharts, Bastone, or Little Brothers when I want a good burger in Royal Oak.

Awkward layout. Super well-lit, not sure if thats a plus or a downside. Definitely feels like a chain.. Good service though. Lots of families with young children here on a sunday for lunch. The pickle bar is my favorite thing about the place.

I like Iron Michael Symon and love his friendly personality. I watch Iron Chef American and the Chew. This was the first time I have been to his restaurant and the food was just ok with some friends. I ordered the Gobbler the turkey burger was tasty. I ordered the onion rings and they were undercooked a few of them the batter was gritty. It was just an ok place. I believe in second chances, but for now won't be back right away!! I enjoy watching the food network and the shows on there.

Who cooks their french fries in lard? Obviously not for this vegetarian. The veggie burger was pretty good, but I was missing my fries. Little place and pretty crowded on a Saturday night

I have been twice. Had the bbq burger, new jack city burger, Lola fries and porky fries. All were a bit above my expectations. It's not mind blowing good. But good combinations with good enough ingredients and well executed. Service both times was solid. Only disappointment was bacon old fashioned. Next time I'll stick to modest beers. Good choice in Royal Oak for a burger.

There's a new player in town in the burger game. The milkshakes are great and the burgers were quite tasty. I'm gonna need to go back a few more times because there are many more burger options I would like to try.

Another celebrity chef place. Lots of hype but not a lot of substance. After all the PR smoke settles you are left with just another good burger bar. Very small compared to other B-Spots. Long waits. So glad they got rid of the rules of the house from Cleveland that were a joke and downright rude. Burgers are very good, service is spotty and a little too casual. Fries are very good. I'll try the one in Rochester before placing it on my list of restaurants that I don't need to go back to.

Food was ok but I can get a better burger at One Eyed Bettys, Vinsetta Garage and Red Coat. The fries sucked. Would have gone for the onion rings but never have and never will pay $7 for a side onion rings. I will be back to try a banana shake as my sister n law said shake was 5 stars.

First of all, this is definitely a huge upgrade for Royal Oak, atmosphere-wise. A place with good food, good drinks, and a large following of locals that AREN'T necessarily the bro-tastic douches that populate much of the rest of town. Pros: - The burgers are awesome - super juicy with a fantastic "grilled" flavor. The topping options are also given the attention they deserve and aren't just throw-ins. All of the ones we've tried seem to add quality flavor. - They hired Travis Fourmont, formerly at Roast and now a "mixology consultant" to design the bar program and it seems to have paid off. Aside from a really diverse mix of local and non-local craft brews, they actually have a solid cocktail selection - they were aging a negroni mix in a barrel at the side of the bar last time we went. The boozy milkshakes (and the non-alcoholic ones, too) also look fantastic, though I haven't tried one yet. - Though potentially a tad overhyped by their staff, the pickle bar is a nice little option that extends beyond just dill/bread-and-butter/etc. pickle cucumbers. They have kimchi, pickled onions, and some other interesting options, too. - They have a wide range of sauces you can add to your burger. Some are pretty interesting, like their spicy ketchup. Cons: - The non-burger stuff that we've tried hasn't lived up to the burgers. I'm a huge fried bologna sandwich guy, with my favorite restaurant version being Au Cheval's (in Chicago) stacked, thinly-sliced sandwich; B Spot's on the other hand is thickly-sliced (like, one three-quarter-inch slice), and actually pretty good, but a step below their burger offerings. The other non-burger items we've tried, like their pulled pork and grilled chicken sandwiches, were deemed "just ok". - The basic menu prices are pretty reasonable, but things can get pretty insane when you start customizing. Each topping is basically another dollar, and adding an extra patty to your sandwich is something like an extra $5 or $6. Fries, onion rings and other sides are also extra (and kinda expensive) - they don't come with your burger. Overall, a big upgrade from what came before it in that space on Main Street. I'm glad it's there.

Would give 1.5 stars if I could. Mediocre at best. Everything wrong with the burgers. The buns were dry, meat too small for the bun, dry and unflavorful meat, nasty wilted brown lettuce from a bag, and even the cheese was piss poor. Onion rings were again generic, frozen garbage that you could get at Costco. Milkshake was decent. I got the vanilla bean Apple pie bacon shake. Pickle bar good. Service good. Beer list looked pretty good with nice happy hour pricing. Wanted to like this place since I had been to the original bspots in the Cleveland burbs and loved em. If they don't improve, could be another royal oak restaurant turnover.

My husband and I loved this place tonight. We have a 10 month old son and they set us up in a booth with a booster seat for him, no problem. Everyone was friendly, there was a 30 minute wait but we just walked around, love that they send a text when your table is ready! My husband had the porky burger and I had the pulled pork. They were messy and yes the bun was a little soggy, but the flavors were amazing. I loved the little bit of spice in the pulled pork, offset by the grilled onions and avocado. Great combination. The fries were fine, definitely great cooked in lard but I don't much like really thin fries. Without a doubt we will be back soon, great food and I love the vibe. Cool enough to bring friends to, still laid back enough I felt really comfortable bringing my son along. The waiting area is tiny but you're not tied to the restaurant while waiting, give them your number and they'll text you when ready. Food came out quick too, not so quick that it's like a fast food place but you're not waiting 45 minutes for a couple of burgers either.

So, on my way to Ale Mary's one day this past summer, I saw that a new place was coming to the storefront just a few doors north on Main. I checked the note, saw it was a burger place and then discovered it is a Michael Symon-owned place. I like the food he prepares and have heard good things about Roast downtown. So, I figured I'd give it a shot after it opened. In fact, I went today and was left with kind of mixed impressions. Atmosphere is fine, but maybe trying a little bit too hard to convey Detroit with the chrome autoparts hanging over the bar? The beer can art piece on the back wall is really cool. Server was quite nice, and the place was defintely well staffed. We did not want for attention at all. So, we ordered two burgers, two orders of fries since the server (rightly) suggested they were on the small side, and a beer each. The bill was $50ish, including tip, for those items, if that helps serve as a frame of reference for the prices here. The beer, cocktail and bourbon lists were pretty good. The fairly ordinary tap list was well supplemented by bottles and a couple nice taps of craft beers, and the cocktails sounded pretty good. I'm not a huge bourbon drinker, so I don't have much to say there other than I did recognize most labels listed (not sure if thats good or bad or just that they had a lot of common bourbons). Beer list gets a B, maybe B- since there's so many good beers out this time of year. The burgers were OK. They weren't bad, but they certainly were not going to have me running back again tomorrow. They were cooked just was we requested, but seemed to be lacking something that would make them memorable. Both were menu burgers, so its not like we came up with just a bad combination of toppings on our own. My lunch partner liked her burger more than I liked mine, but she too was not blown away. They present well, and they are not ginormous monstrosities that make your blood pressure rise just by smelling them, so credit for the presentation. But perhaps my biggest knock on their burgers are the buns. They are that egg-washed brioche-y kinda bun and definitely on the dry, flaky side, which just didn't add to the burger experience in the way I think the chef (Symon?) was hoping for. Overall, a solid B for the burger. The disappointment of the meal -- the fries. I'm all for smaller portions, but for $4, an 8 ounce metal cup lined with paper seems a little ridiculous. Plus the addition of the rosemary didn't help the fries a whole lot. They have several different sauces to dip with (lola ketchup, a banana pepper sauce, coffee bbq, being the unique ones), but they didn't complement the fries seasoning in my mind. To their credit, they were well and served very warm. But the rosemary just didn't help out the surprisingly small amount of fries served. Fries get a C, saved by their perfectly cooked condition and for being nice and hot. Overall, its really an ok place. Not great, and definitely not the best burger in Royal Oak in my opinion (Town Tavern and Red Coat are better in my opinion). I'll probably give it another shot sometime in the future, but its not going to be the place to get my burger fix :)

The B Spot is the G Spot equivalent for burger lovers!!! The pickle bar is sweet, great beer selection and cool décor. One word of warning though. Unless you like the feeling of hot lava coming out of you, as an after effect, don't order the Atomic Burger. Although very deciduous, it has enough heat to melt the polar ice cap.

Besides being the best bun + burger I have ever had (was cooked perfectly---I literally gasped and moaned when I took a bite, and couldn't wait for my husband to take his first bite to share in the joy), the pickle bar was fucking rad (kimchee!!), and the 'B' in beer cans was the icing on the cake. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, which was nice. Got our mother-in-law a gift card here for Mother's Day, as she's been wanting to go :) A huge fan of Michael Symon's, but it's the staff who pull it off. Small space but they work it well. Love the black motif.

I'd been wanting to check this place out for quite some time and finally had the opportunity to have dinner here during the week. We were promptly seated, as it wasn't too busy. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and décor- very cool! Our waitress was enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They've got a pretty nice selection of beers. Although the food menu wasn't that large, we found something to our liking. I created my own burger and ordered it well done (no pink in center), along with rosemary fries, and my husband ordered the "thin lizzie" with onion rings. My burger definitely was not cooked properly to well done, as there was still quite a bit of pink in center, but I chose not to say anything. It was just ok- Not very flavorful at all and a tad greasy, as others have mentioned, which I was surprised by. It did help to add the different sauces located on the table. I did, however, enjoy the thin cut rosemary fries- nice flavor, not too overwhelming. My husband seemed to enjoy his meal and had no complaints! It's worth mentioning that the onion rings and fries were not included with the burgers and had to be ordered separately, but they were generous portion sizes. Overall, a pretty good experience. It was a little pricey for just the two of us- over $45.00! I think I'd probably give this place a second try.

The worst place I've ever been too! Burger over cooked, bun cold and mushy luke-warm fries and burnt onion rings. My shake was so thick I had to send it back, and the sliders tasted like I was chewing on rubber , and the servers were terrible. I had to ask another young lady which was very polite and came back to wait on a table that wasn't even hers (her name was Alex) if she could refill my water because the one server we had just gave us a menu, took our drink order and never came back until we asked for our check. I asked to talk to a manager in which was a fail because he spent more time defending the server than taking care of the customer if I could remember his name was Kevin. I wouldn't recommend this place to a blind man, that's how bad the experience was.

My husband and I ended up here because of long waits elsewhere and we were on a time crunch. We were pleasantly surprised! GREAT beer lists... Tons to sample. I loved that the pickle bar had so many options (including kimchee!). My husband couldn't stop talking about how great his burger was, and he is very picky about his burgers!! Food was great as well and we had great service! We will be back again.

I went to the restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Before I went here I checked out the reviews yet. So I expected the worst, but the Burgers were really good. The ketchup was the only thing I didn't care for. I had the fun guy! The service was descent but I was there on a Tuesday Night. It wasn't Red Robin but it was worth it to me!!!!!!

They feature a Tiny pickle bar......so stupid! thanks for the pickle and shitty kimchi! The place reminds me of a bar for parents to bring their lil kids with them not sure how else to put it. The place is manufactured to be cool. 4$ for fries! only worth it if you take home the metal cup they come in. Hamburger was nothing special. Best thing about this place was the hot bar tender what's her face. I give it 2-3 yrs before closed down. Seen that someone mentioned the buns yeah nice job having crappy buns when your trying to be all fancy and Shit with your burgers!

Went here last night with my boyfriend for dinner. I work in the area, and was excited to finally try this place out. A lot smaller than I had imagined! It took a little bit for our server to greet us, but he was pretty on top of things after that. I ordered the "gobbler", and my boyfriend had the "fat doug." Burgers were cooked perfectly, juicy, and were overall really good. We split the fries, which were also great. We had a lot of fun trying out the sauces on the table; I personally loved the stadium mustard, and the coffee bbq sauce. The pickle bar isn't as lavish as I had imagined from reviews. 3-4 different kinds of pickles, plus kimchi, jalapenos, and green tomatoes. I did enjoy it, though. You have to walk in between a tiny wall and the kitchen area to get to the bathroom, which is kind of awkward and slightly dangerous. Overall, a great place for a casual dinner in downtown Royal Oak. My boyfriend and I really did enjoy our visit, and our meals. You may not find it super special, but it's definitely worth a try. We'll definitely be back.

Great food and beer!! Awesome pulled pork and pickle bar too!! Our waitress rocked -let us try beer samples and pretty cheap.

The buns were stale and burnt. I ordered the veggie burger and it was very plain tasting, sort of like cardboard. The only thing that saved the place from a one star was the excellent service and the ambience of the place. I won't be returning here to eat ever again.

I can't explain the level of beef here!! I built my own burger-avacado, cilatro, fried egg, provalone. They are true to the proper Temps and it was served on a to die for bun. I don't do the review thing often of holy god, this burger inspired me! Thank you burger gods for finally delivering the fine art of burger to detroit!

Great decor and the service was decent, however, the food is mediocre, the burgers were small, the salad was very small for $5, and the Lola fries weren't what I expected for the price. Burger bun was dry and lacked moisture. The sauces weren't great, just ok, my, biggest complaint was the priccing, 2 burgers, 1 salad, 1 fry, and 2 waters, $28 without tip, pricy for the value.

Was totally looking forward to having a really good burger and was totally disappointed! The burgers were small for the price. When our order came the bottom bun was a complete soggy mess. I ordered the blue cheese and mushroom onion burger (can't remember the actual menu name) it literally had three slices of mushrooms on in and a few onions. It was one of the worst burgers I've ever had. The restaurant had four tables filled and at least 10-12 employees present and no one actually came to talk to us to see really if we enjoyed it. You are a new restaurant, talk to customers see what they have to say. We are a restaurant town. The Burgurz restaurant down the block has much better burgers and service for a slightly smaller price. Yep. Very disappointed and have heard it from several of my friends too, but honestly wanted to try it for ourself. Won't be back.

I was like mad craving a burger, and my husband is sick of Vinsetta Garage (I was jonesin' for a 3AM burger, but I digress). So we thought we'd try B-Spot. It was disappointing. The beer list was pretty decent though, and my husband and kids enjoyed the pickle bar. Hubby and I both got the Lola burger, and there just wasn't much flavor to it. It was so weird. Even my 9 year old said, "It's ok. Not great". Good amount of options for kids. Not a huge fan of the rosemary fries. Again, mediocre. At the risk of sounding like a foodie amateur, Red Robin (aka Screamapillar) has way better burgers than this place. Atmosphere is good-- like the industrial decor, but there's just nothing about this place that stood out or would make me want to try it again especially when there are so many other places to try...or when we could go to Vinsetta Garage for a 3AM burger.

Went to try a new place for burgers. About 10$ the burger was very tasty and a delicious bun. Not huge but more than enough to allow for other food. Lola fries are great as I really grown to like Rosemary over the past couple of years these were one of the reasons I wanted to try the place as I saw them online. Very nice staff and we were served quickly. Will go back Spent a LOT of time in this spot over the years as it was the old home to the original Mongolian BBQ which moved south a few blocks.

I met a friend here on a cold, snowy Friday night and didn't have much of a wait. I'm admittedly not a burger connoisseur but I do appreciate the occasional burger or turkey burger and this place seemed like it had a cool atmosphere. I ordered the Gobbler (turkey burger) and was unimpressed. It wasn't very flavorful, and for $10 at a place that is supposed to be all about the burgers, I expected it to be delicious. It's surprising that everything is essentially a la carte, too. We split an order of Lola fries that were pretty good and flavorful but didn't make up for the blah burger. I suppose $10 wouldn't be bad for a fabulous burger, but it's overpriced for the quality you get here. I'm in no hurry to get back to B Spot.

I was underwhelmed by B Spot. Ordered the Gobbler, fries and a root beer float. My favorite part was definitely the root beer float - which is nearly impossible to screw up. The Gobbler was very bland, even with the sriracha mayo. The fries also lacked flavor, leaving much to be desired. No real urge to hurry back, that's for sure.

I'm not usually a huge burger fan, but I've been here a couple times now, and they have solid food, and good beer. The price is very reasonable, and if you order without a bun, they'll just make a mini salad for you.

Great service and the food is good. Their burgers were cooked perfectly. The pickled bar can't be passed up.

Our company thought it was amazing; my wife and I, it was decent. RO has great competition so any new establishment must bring it's a game. Service was good; draft select was decent; food was good unless you like the pickle bar then you are overjoyed.

Long before the Food Network, I first learned of Michael Symon from Ruhlman's book, Soul of a Chef, and admired his commitment to developing a strong food culture in his hometown. So I feel that it is a bit of a betrayal to give this place a lower rating, fair though it may be. The B-Spot location in Royal Oak is the second one in Michigan; the other is in Rochester Hills. I had been looking forward to trying this place after my Facebook feed blew up with positive posts and yummy-looking photos from this restaurant. Unfortunately, my visit was less positive. The restaurant was half-full mid-Saturday morning, just filling up for lunch. There were a number of different choices on the menu which included burgers (meat, chicken, turkey, and veggie), brats, and bologna sandwiches. The combinations sounded creative and interesting. The special of the month was the Kojak, a burger topped with gyro meat. I almost went with that but the server recommended the Lola, a burger with sunny-side egg, bacon, cheese and pickled onions. The 6-oz burger, ordered medium, was unfortunately very dry and the egg was cooked through. The wonderful flavors from the toppings could not make up for the poorly-cooked patty. The onion rings, however, were amazing. Spiced and flavorful, I loved this side. I also loved the sauces, trying four of the six offered (Coffee BBQ and Shasha sauces were tasty), and the self-serve pickle bar, sampling six of the eight. McClure's has raised our expectations for pickles, and B-Spot was spot-on in that respect. There was not only the traditional pickle, but also peppers, onions, kimchee, and green tomatoes. Yes, pickled green tomatoes! I was delighted by the selection. The server was fantastic. He took the time to fully explain the menu and to offer thoughtful recommendations. This place definitely merits a second visit - although I'm leaning towards a brat for the next time around.

Came here for lunch during the week and sat at the bar. I ordered the burger medium with blue cheese and onions. The burger came cooked perfect and the toppings were a plenty. the onions were caramelized with a little char flavor and the blue cheese was melted so it did not roll off the burger which was nice. Great flavor combo and the bun was amazing soft with a crispy edge. I would love to come back and try some more burgers.

The vanilla apple pie bacon milkshake is crack...it sounds like a funky combination but the gritsy bacon texture is amazing. The most delicious milk shake I have ever had. I highly recommend you stuff your face at this place with a burger and shake. I got the Lola burger, it was solid. Contrary to what some of the other reviews mentioned, my medium rare burger was cooked as I wanted. I liked the pickles bar a lot (has pickled cucumbers, tomatoes, and even kimchi!!). I also tried the old fashion with bacon, it was a good drink but couldn't really taste the bacon. The beer menu was solid, a good mixture of local brews and national ones. Happy hr is from 3-6 with good discounts on cocktails and beers. Overall...5 stars really because the milkshake was that good. Burgers and beers 4 stars.

I'm a fan. I see myself stopping by B Spot pretty regularly. I've been twice now: once with Boyfriend for dinner pre-movie, and the other at lunchtime with my Friday lunch work group. Boyfriend and I stopped in before seeing Birdman at the Main Art. We were a little worried it'd be insanely crowded (just opened, etc.), but we were seated pretty quickly. I started with the Vanilla Bean Shake with Kahlua and vodka (really good), but they also have a really decent beer selection. Boyfriend went with the Smasher's Special (some kind of jalapeno spicy thing they were featuring last month), and I built my own burger with coleslaw and bacon (basically a Porky's with bacon. **Note, they don't do substitutes on the existing burgers, but do allow you to build your own). We split an order of the Lola fries, fries with rosemary. Like most BBQ places, they've got a bunch of sauces on the table, but they're not your ordinary sauces. My favorite was the lola ketchup. Everything was good. The boozey shake was delicious (and enormous), the burgers were tasty, and service honestly was exceptional. Our waitress was really knowledgeable about the menu and could answer Boyfriend's beer questions, despite not being a beer drinker herself. Yeah, the bathroom's awkwardly located, but I don't think that's a reason to stay away. Good drinks, good burgers, good service, pickle bar. What's not to like?

I've never been to this B-Spot - is smaller than the ones in Cleveland. They made me a fried chicken burger even though it wasn't on the build-your-own menu. My burger was crispy chicken with bacon, cheddar and a fried egg, and it came out exactly as specified. The chicken was moist and not too heavy, and the rosemary fries were awesome, if a little too salty! Our waiter was just a little pushy on the upsell, but he was fun enough that we didn't mind. The waiter ran our card with a mobile machine right at the table! I love the atmosphere - a little less aggressive than the location in Cleveland. Glad to see a Michael Symon joint in suburban Detroit!

The burgers are really good with a bunch of different toppings to choose from. The apps were decent but nothing like what I expected from the chef owner. They have a pickle stand that my wife was a fan of but I don't like pickles so it wasn't interesting. Good draft beer selections; points for having German Hefeweizens on tap.

My husband ordered the special burger of the day. It was piled up with toppings but the toppings could not disguise the pungent taste of meat going bad. He had me taste it to make sure. Told the waitress she said she would let her manager know. We were one of maybe three tables and two managers on standing around.... Neither manager came over to apologize or acknowledge the complaint. The bill was handed to me without any type of adjustment just an "Oh well, sorry about your burger". I could understand if they were so busy and or adjusted the bill as compensation, but not with a manager available per table... I have never posted a review before but felt I should on this. I can only hope he doesn't get food poisoning.

Since I tried the B Spot near Rochester, I decided to give this one a try. It's a bit small and easily crowded.....kind of a cute little place. It was clean and decent though. My service was very good with no issues whatsoever. My wife and I ordered burgers, she had onion rings and I had fries. My burger was cooked to perfection (i ordered it medium rare). The fries were really tasty. The food was really good....it's one of the better burgers in town. It was flavorful, juicy and well put together !!! There are tons of choices for toppings and the menu has some really cool unique items on it. This place is a great choice for Royal Oak !!! I think I prefer the Royal Oak branch just a little better than the Rochester location....but both are great.

Food was great, service was great - except from our actual waiter whose name I don't know because he didn't hang around long enough for us to figure it out. We got all of our food and drink refills from other waitstaff that we flagged down, while our waiter chatted with some buddies at the bar. He pretty much just took the order and brought the checks. So everything's great unless you're unlucky enough to get that guy.

Beer cans on the wall!? WHAT?! Now that's cool. Oh wait, what the hell is that thing?! A PICKLE BAR!? NO WAY! This place is unique with some solid decor and great service. The food was fantastic and eclectic. If this place was a character on "Full House" is would be Uncle Jesse. Yes, it's that cool. Good food, good pickles, good fries, good drinks. I'll be back fools!

I was disappointed with this place. My husband ordered sliders and I ordered mr porky. The sliders were plain and mr porky had no flavor. You have to load it with mustards and pickled veggies from the pickle bar. Even then I wasn't that impressed. I expected the jalapeños and cheese to be built inside the brat but they were all outside of it which didn't allow all the flavor to soak into the meat. We also had the Lola fries which were supposed to be good but I didn't taste any of the seasoning. I did enjoy the pickle bar a lot though. My husband has a different opinion and really loved it. I would try it at least once in case you have similar taste buds as my husband.

Ambiance is nice. Looks like a clean modern burger spot. The burger was meh: I got the spicy one (forgot the name), which was sadly too mild for my taste, but worse of all it was so greasy. When I tried to remove the toothpick out of the bun, greasy butter just oozes out. The burger was so little that I wasn't full after. The fries and onion rings are all cooked in lard, which I don't do- the only choice of side that left me was a side salad which I just wasn't feeling. Can't comment on the alcohol because I don't drink, but it seemed decent. They had a pickle bar which I had lots of as the burger didn't fill me up. My husband was still hungry that he ate a second burger. Overall nice experience but the food and side options were not up to par.

Royal Oak needs another burger restaurant like Mad Heights needs a Thai place. But oh wait....they serve beer? And bourbon? And a pickle bar so good I'd sneak in with a Lil Bros slider to punch it up? Yes. Tried the Yo! burger which was like a burger fused with a muffaleta. In a good way. Cooked a perfect medium as requested. Those aforementioned pickles (I tried all of them, but line your pockets with the green tomatoes). Good beer list. Impossibly congenial service. Seriously, service from hostess on through, memorable. I do think I'll be back.

B spot was spot on! I have been to this location as well as the Village of Rochester Hills location and both are excellent. Our burgers were fantastic, at our table we had the Lola and the Piggy. All were cooked perfectly the way we ordered, which it seems many burger places struggle with, but not B Spot! The burgers were juicy and tasty and the perfect size. We opted not to get sides because we truly wanted to enjoy our burger and not leave stuffed. I tried a grapefruit beer on tap that was AMAZING! Their milkshakes are also really good and they have some very unique flavors which you can also add alcohol too for a more grown up version. I really like the open concept since the entire front of the building opens up to Main St., you get that Al fresco experience without necessarily being on the street with people oogling over your food.

As an avid fan of "Roast" I was quite excited for this place to arrive in RO. Stopped in today and enjoyed the Lola and fries. All very delish, including the pickle bar. I still think the 3am is the best burger with an egg on it, but this is right in line with the Roast burger at happy hour - both Symon burgers will remain my absolute #2 and not far off at all from Vinsetta. Beer choices are also very good too. Hands down a good choice for lunch or dinner.

Went the other day for lunner with the hubby. We were out furniture shopping and wanted to have some good food to celebrate selling our house. I would have given it 2 stars, but I want to believe that M.S. doesn't deserve that. -service was so-so. We had everything we needed, which wasn't much of anything. No smile, small talk or descriptions of anything, I had no clue of the specials or what the sauces were or that there was a pickle bar included(found out from the guy that brought the food to us). She ran around but didn't seem to be doing much. I think she was overwhelmed with a previous rush that didn't exist at this time. -the meat was very good and the bun was soft, BUT the burger was significantly smaller then the bun. I don't know what the ratio is suppose to be, this didn't come close. -the pickle bar was pickled items dumped out of their jars into plastic containers with flimsy tongs that hardly let you pinch up anything...if you actually want any of it. I assumed they would have something more then kroger/gfs quality items. The meat is good, everything else is so-so. There are many burger places in the area trump BSpot. It's forgettable.

This places burgers are Ok but kind of small. They are going with the trend of these burger spots of dressing a burger with a beautiful bun, but the patty is tiny. The fries and sauces are solid. If the prices were fair, I would give it a solid rating. $18 dollars including tip for a glorified slider and fries is offensive. It will do well in Downtown Royal Oak because the food in Royal Oak is utter garbage.

Cool place. Small but not cramped. Cool offerings for a burger joint. The bf got the Atomic burger and said it was the best burger he'd ever had. Wow. I got the turkey burger, which wasn't great, but not bad. Their fries come with rosemary, which I don't care for and ordered plain. They're thin cut and delicious. There's a pickle bar that everyone's talking about but I just don't "get." Maybe 3 or 4 different kinds of sliced pickles? Okaaay. Sure. But the great part is the spiked milkshakes. A vanilla shake with vodka? Oh yeah. Large enough to split and oh-so-good. Great service. Your general parking challenge in downtown RO. We'll be back.
